Chuggin' along!
over 4 years ago – Tue, Sep 24, 2019 at 01:59:44 PM

Hello!
So we’re over half way to our next stretch goal! Awesome!

Coming next we have another free preview of monsters. Our next theme is Natural and Good Guys, and features Scarred Lands favourites like the Amalthean Goat and Sage Camel. Probably the Handiwork team’s absolute favourites: they’re where we started when we first began to convert monsters earlier this year. Great stuff.

And on Thursday it’s battlin’ time! Round two of Monster Showdown. Can. not. wait.

Let us know if you’ve tried out any monsters from last week’s preview!

And here’s some more art from our good friend Scott Purdy!

Hello to our new backers, and welcome! And thank you again to those of you who've been along for the whole ride!

...Group Two: Flay Beast’s Fanatics! Here's a reminder of that line up:

  • Flay Beast
  • Fleshcrawler
  • Gray Lancer
  • Hellfire Bloodshark
  • Iron Tusker
  • Love-Scorned Soul
  • Mist Murderer
  • Night Tyrant

Group One is defeated! They’ll be broken up and come back again another couple of times in an attempt to make it in!

Meanwhile Group Two is guaranteed a play in the America’s Got Talent Final er I mean Scarred Lands Creature Collection 5e! Thanks for all your votes. It was a close run thing, with only a dozen votes in it!

Stretch Goal Down

Thanks for all your pledges over the weekend - we broke through another stretch goal!

Next up we’re aiming to unlock all of the monsters as VTT tokens, which will be pretty sweet - these will likely go on sale after the campaign, but backers of the Digital Pack will get them included in their pledge! Awesome!

Add Ons

A quick reminder if you’d like extra copies of the Creature Collection, a copy of the 5e setting book, or either of our great value PDF bundles, then be sure to add the funds to your pledge! That way stretch goals lie!

Meanwhile…

I chatted to The Story Told Podcast before we launched, and you can listen to that episode here: http://thestorytold.libsyn.com/bonus-episode-12-scarred-lands-creature-collection-interview-with-jon-hodgson

We also missed that some exclusive material went live at EN World - thanks to Russ & co for sharing that! Check it out: https://www.enworld.org/threads/5-page-preview-of-scarred-lands-creature-collection.667338/

This week

This week we’ll be sharing our next preview PDF and it will be Round Two of our monster showdown, so lots to look forward to!

Lastly for today, Scott Purdy has been sharing more of his awesome art for the Creature Collection. Here’s his Sandmasker.

Nice.

Thanks again for all your pledges and shares of the campaign!

MONSTER SHOWDOWN ROUND ONE
over 4 years ago – Thu, Sep 19, 2019 at 08:41:12 AM

Welcome, gentle backer, to our very first no-holds-barred monster show down!

As you will have read, we have already converted,  polished, illustrated and laid out 60 monsters from the glorious history of the Creature Collection 3e.

We also have a huge list of suggested creatures from Scarred Lands veterans, players, backers of the previous SL kickstarter, our writers and artists. And we’d like YOU to help us decide who makes the cut.

And so it is we have devised a series of pitched battles between groups of monsters, to see which is the most popular. Voting is open of course only to backers, so please use this privileged position wisely!

Here is the first line up:

Group One: Blood Zombie Bangers

  • Blood Zombie
  • Dreamwraith
  • Cave Moth
  • Chern's Children
  • Crescent Elk
  • Flesh Strippers
  • Ghoul, Poisonbearer
  • Hanid (Spirit Woman of the Flower)

Versus

Group Two: Flay Beast’s Fanatics

  • Flay Beast
  • Fleshcrawler
  • Gray Lancer
  • Hellfire Bloodshark
  • Iron Tusker
  • Love-Scorned Soul
  • Mist Murderer
  • Night Tyrant

What we need you to do is VOTE by commenting “Group One” or “Group Two” on this update.

Remember you're voting for the group, not individual monsters!

The group with the most votes will win, and thereby go through to be included in the Creature Collection 5e! Votes cast outside of comments on this post will not be counted!

But fear not, should your favourite beastie be on a losing side! The vanquished will return in a new team, and each creature will get several chances to be included.

And hey. If we unlock a load of MORE MONSTER stretch goals, the we might need them all to appear! Who knows?!

Voting will run until Monday 12pm GMT.

Seconds out, round one! DING DING

Stretch goal down!
over 4 years ago – Tue, Sep 17, 2019 at 11:23:18 AM

We did it! We will have MORE MONSTERS! Thank you!

Now we're on a roll, we might even unlock the next stretch goal, which is EVEN MORE MONSTERS!

We thought it'd be cool to lock in a couple of book-enlargers as the first couple of stretch goals, and after that they get a bit more varied, with Encounter Packs getting added, some cool stuff for the digital pack, and more! But all interspersed with MORE MONSTERS because, let's face it, we all want a phat book of monsters, right?

Tomorrow we'll be sharing our first backer-only preview - a themed collection of completed monsters from the book in PDF form, so get ready for that!

And I'll also be back with a little bit more detail on what MORE MONSTERS means in terms of page count and so on.

Thanks again for all your support - I'm seeing the campaign being shared, and it's so cool you're as excited as we are to bring this to life! The more people we bring along, the bigger the book gets!
