Hello Creature Collectors,
It's James, your Kickstarter Concierge, back at the end of the month for a status update. Until the final rewards are in your hands, I'll make sure to send an update at least once a month, just to keep everyone in the loop and ensure nothing's slipped off our radar.
This will be my FOURTH Creature Collection for a different edition. Love it!
SURVEY LOCKDOWN PROCESS
We've locked down our final order quantities this week, so I'll be able to provide order quantities to the team as they begin the print process for this book. With everything going on in the world, we're locking down a bit earlier than we may normally have, just to allow extra time for strained logistics, reduced staffing situations, and delayed deliveries.
Our next steps:
1. CONFIRM ALL PAYMENT INFORMATION - For any additions you made in BackerKit, or any payments that did not process at the end of the Kickstarter campaign, please ensure your payment information is up to date, valid, and ready to be processed by AUGUST17, 2020. In three weeks, I will instruct BackerKit to lock down and process all outstanding payments.
2. CONFIRM SHIPPING INFORMATION - Please ensure your shipping information is up-to-date with your expected address for September/October 2020. Please ensure that this information is entered and correct by AUGUST24, 2020. In four weeks, I will take the shipping information we have for you in BackerKit and provide that to our fulfillment partners, so they can start picking and packing orders, with plans to maybe ship by September, but more likely in October.
Quick note on schedules and timelines
2020 continues to prove that time does not work the way you think, and all plans need to be adjustable on the fly. I'm trying to get out a little ahead to have room to make alterations as needed, but obviously, these dates and the idea of shipping in September/October are our best guesses based on current projections. Should things change, I'll send communication and we'll update as necessary.

As Jon noted in his most recent update, we're moving toward the final stages of this kickstarter campaign and getting ready to start our final lock down process. As I shared in our July 14 update, I'm James and I'll be monitoring the auto-pilot as we bring this project in for a landing...

IT'S TIME TO LOCK DOWN THE SURVEYS & PREPARE FOR SHIPPING!!
Just to pause a moment in the middle of celebration, I ask that everyone reviews their BackerKit survey to confirm rewards and lock in information. Look for instructions below on how to access your Survey again, but key follow-up steps are:
1. CONFIRM REWARDS - I'll be locking down all Reward Lists, so if you wanted to add any additional rewards, please do so by JULY27, 2020. In a weeks' time, I will lock down all reward lists and you won't be able to adjust or add anything after that time.
2. ADDRESS CONFIRMATION & DELIVERY OBLIGATIONS.
Consider this the (at least) six-weeks-from-fulfillment warning to update your information, after which point, you agree that our responsibility to you is to ship your order as listed in our pledge manager system to the address listed in BackerKit, that title and risk passes to you upon delivery to a common carrier for such shipment, and you are responsible for import duties or any other duties that may be payable to the relevant tax authorities, providing correct address information and ensuring this address is deliverable by normal methods. Failure to confirm mailing address prior to August 24, 2020 will be taken as agreement that all obligations have been met and no further action or effort is required on the part of Onyx Path.
That's my brief surface-style semi-legal notice saying, basically, we're going to ship to the address you've provided but our cut off date, so please ensure your information is as accurate as possible. And, we'll do our best to get the book into your hands and make sure it all works out! But we can only work with the information we have, and shipping systems as they are today. Things have been weird lately, so let's work together to make it happen. I'll do my best on my end!
(Of course, if you're getting digital rewards only, you don't need to worry about your address. This is just for the physical books and screens).
SHIPPING UPDATE TO COME
This is all in anticipation of shipping around September 2020. I will send another update when the books are actually ready to go and will begin shipping, but we need to have this information locked down prior to that stage. If you find yourself in an unusual circumstance or your residence unexpectedly changes between August24th and the date I send out the shipping update, contact me to see what I can do at that time.

Hello!
Now that print proofing is complete, I wanted to swing by and make a final update from me.
My job as studio leader at Handiwork Games was to run the kickstarter (done!) and for my team to create the book up to the stage of print files (also done, with a few months delay and change of venue thanks to covid!)
So it’s time for me to take a bow and hand you over to the dedicated logistic experts from Onyx Path Publishing that will make sure you are looked after from this point on.
James and Aaron will be taking the tiller from here, and there’s nothing more I can do. Thank you so much for all your support - it’s been a really fun campaign to head up, (covid issues to one side) and I hope you enjoy your book when it arrives!
So what happens next? As James mentioned in the last update (and do check that one out of you haven’t - it’s full of useful info!) The Onyx Path team will be locking down the Backerkit in the coming weeks, and will let you know when that will be happening. Reward Delivery Update

Hello Scarred Lands Creature Collection Backers,
My name is James and some of you may know me as the Onyx Path Kickstarter Concierge.
It's James, here to run the final laps
I'll be joining the team on this project to carry the baton for this final portion of the relay. I can tell you there have been some surprise hurdles with the Covid-19 pandemic (to keep my track metaphor running), but it looks like the team has managed to make the final jump and hopefully I'll be able to get us through these final laps.
All of that is a long way to say that I'll be helping get the final reward, the hardcover book, into your hands. We're not quite there yet - the files are currently at the printer and about to begin the test proofing process, where test versions are printed for review and approval before the actual print run begins. Getting to that point has been an obstacle course itself, but it looks like the way forward is still mostly clear (for now!).
PDF RELEASE ON DRIVETHRU
Tomorrow, Onyx Path will be releasing the Scarred Lands Creature Collection PDF for sale. You should already have your copy - it went out to backers on February 29th, which seems about 15 months ago. If you haven't yet clicked on your redemption link and added the PDF to your DriveThru digital library, you can access your digital rewards via BackerKit.
In addition to the PDF release tomorrow, DriveThru will be offering a Print-on-Demand option, allowing customers to order a PoD hardcover version of the book.
THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS YOUR HARDCOVER KICKSTARTER REWARD. While Print-on-Demand capability has improved dramatically over the past decade and a completely serviceable option in most cases, it still hasn't quite achieved the final quality of a traditional print run. The hardcover book reward from the Kickstarter, both the regular and deluxe versions, will be shipping soon (more details on that below), but the Print-on-Demand option exists for those who missed the kickstarter campaign, want another copy for their game table, or can't wait for that final shipment to go out.
BECAUSE YOU'RE AWESOME, WE WANT TO GIVE YOU ANOTHER REWARD. Ideally, the hardcover kickstarter rewards would already be on their way, but the pandemic delayed everything by several months. To thank your for your patience and celebrate the release of the PDF and PoD versions, we wanted to add another reward to the kickstarter list - a discount on the Print-on-Demand versions, should you choose to order a copy!
REWARD DISTRIBUTION
Your link to claim your CreatureCollection PoD Discount will be sent out by our BackerKit pledge manager over the next day. Since we are using our partners at DriveThruRPG as the host for this, you will need to set up a DriveThru account if you don't have one already. So, for those backers who did not pledge to a tier that included the hardcover, or those backers who might be looking for a second copy for the table, there are two different versions of Print-On-Demand options available.
Standard Color Heavyweight uses a thick 70# white paper which has better page opacity. (that's "70 pound" for reference, but does not mean each page weighs 70 lbs!). Standard Heavyweight Color uses inkjet technology. (These are not the same inkjet printers you have at home - these are often as big or bigger than a car!) This option offers lower cost but the colors won't be as sharp or bright as a Premium Color book.
Premium Color Heavyweight uses the same 70# paper, but uses a digital offset press. This option offers superior color quality but is more expensive to produce.
(Remember to order via the coupon link in your BackerKit digital rewards locker, if you that was part of your rewards list! That link is your coupon and must be the first step in your PoD order.)
NEXT STEPS
Once the test proofs have been approved and the print run is scheduled and underway, I'll begin our lockdown process, wherein we confirm final orders, process any outstanding BackerKit payments, and confirm final shipping destination. We're not quite there yet, but it doesn't hurt to review your BackerKit information to ensure that everything's set up and your ahead of the process.

I will be in touch as soon as I have a delivery schedule from the printer. I will give advance notice for each step of the process, so you will know when you have to have your order locked in and address confirmed. And, if you're reviewed BackerKit and it's already correct, you can mostly sit back while I keep the process moving along.
We're in the homestretch now, and though it's been a challenging run, I've got the baton now and will carry it across the finish line, making sure everyone ends up with the rewards they've pledge for. Thanks again for your patience, and I can't wait until our copies are in our hands!

Progress - almost there!

Hello!
I’m sorry to have left you without news for so long! It’s felt we’re on the point of printing and handover for some time, and I wanted to wrap up nice and neatly in one update. Sadly 2020 doesn’t seem to like nice and neat.
So where are we at? All the design and layout work for the new Canadian printer is done, and has been in their hands since last week. Moving printer has involved relaying out the book to new specifications, but that work is complete.
We’re just waiting on the final ok from them and OPP, and then the presses roll. This should happen at any time in the next few days.
Once that happens I’ll be handing you over to the tender care of the OPP logistics team, who are in charge of backerkit and getting you your printed books.
Covid has made for some unusual steps at this part of the process - Creative and prepress work for the book was all completed in May, but as you know, Onyx Path sourced a better place to print the Creature Collection in response to the Covid crisis.
This has meant some delays in the short term, but ultimately will speed things up in this new normal.
